Christmas Sweater Monkey

With its ever-smiling face and classic red Christmas sweater, Kay Bojesen's world-famous design icon and our cosy yuletide season are woven even closer together — and is sure to bring added joy to the holidays. In 1951, Danish designer Kay Bojesen wanted to design a coat rack for a children's furniture exhibition — the idea behind the monkey was that the long arms would bring the coat hook down to child’s height, and the short legs would make room for a hat and scarf. Today, this monkey is merely an enchanting animal that will spark the imagination of the young — and the young at heart. It consists of 31 individual parts, made from Limba, an African hardwood, and sustainable teak wood. Thanks to the natural grain and color of the wood, each one of the wooden animals is unique.
