Similar to cloisonné, plique-à-jour is an enameling technique in which the enamel is applied in cells. Unlike cloisonné, the style has no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. In this remarkable brooch, the enameling mimics the intricate details of a dragonfly's wings, emeralds make up its body while diamond accents make it shimmer. Cicada is recognized for its striking designs inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements as well as the natural world. Each exceptional piece is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail by master artisans in New York City.
